Anbe Sivam

Anbe Sivam follows Nallasivam, a scarred and disabled communist labor activist, and Anand Bharadwaj, a vain advertising executive, thrown together on a chaotic overland journey after a flight cancellation. Written by Kamal Haasan, who also plays Nallasivam, the film unfolds as an extended philosophical dialogue about compassion, ideology, faith, and what it means to genuinely love humanity, using broad comic set pieces to carry deep emotional and political weight. Though it underperformed commercially on release in 2003, the film has since been reassessed as one of Tamil cinema's most beloved and rewatched works, frequently topping fan and critic lists of the greatest Tamil films, prized particularly for its final act's emotional and ideological payoff and for Madhavan's performance as the initially insufferable but ultimately transformed Anand.
